Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, mature ruby-red color with brick-toned reflections that speak to its age. The bouquet is layered and inviting, unfolding with ripe red and dark fruit, warm spice, dried herbs, and a subtle touch of vanilla from oak aging. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet elegant, with silky tannins, well-integrated acidity, and a smooth, lingering finish. After more than 30 years, it has reached an expressive plateau, but a well-stored bottle can still offer lovely complexity and harmony for years to come.

Production
This wine is made from 100% Sangiovese and comes from the Caggiole area in Tuscany, a terroir well suited to producing structured, ageworthy wines with freshness and character. The 1988 vintage was carefully vinified and then matured for 24 months in oak barrels, followed by an additional 12 months of bottle aging to refine its texture and aromas.

Food & Serving
An excellent match for roasted or grilled red meats, game dishes, braised lamb, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C; decanting is recommended, especially if the bottle has been resting for many years, to help the wine open and separate any sediment.
