Poderi Marcarini Barolo DOCG del Comune di La Morra 2022 is a refined, classically styled Barolo that captures the elegance and perfume of one of the appellation’s most celebrated communes. Made from 100% Nebbiolo, it reflects the finesse of La Morra with lifted aromatics, graceful structure, and a distinctly traditional character rooted in the Langhe’s long winemaking history.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a light garnet hue, typical of Nebbiolo, with an elegant and transparent appearance. The bouquet is expressive and layered, opening with roses, violets, cherry, raspberry, and red wild berries, then unfolding into notes of tobacco, leather, spice, and a subtle forest-floor nuance. The palate is dry, complex, and harmonious, with vibrant acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a long, silky finish. The 2022 vintage brings generous fruit and approachability, while still offering the structure and balance needed for further development in bottle over the coming years.

Production
The grapes come from selected vineyards around La Morra, an area known for producing Barolo with fragrance, finesse, and supple tannins rather than the more forceful style found in the southern part of the denomination. The wine is made with traditional vinification, including a long maceration on the skins to build depth, structure, and aromatic complexity. After fermentation, it is aged for an extended period in large Slovenian oak casks, allowing the tannins to soften while preserving the purity of Nebbiolo and the expression of terroir.

This Barolo is a natural match for rich, savory dishes such as braised beef, game, mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, and aged cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young, to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
