Poderi Marcarini Barbera d'Alba DOC Ciabot Camerano 2024 is a classic, characterful Barbera from La Morra in the heart of Piemonte’s Langhe region. This traditional expression shows exactly why Barbera is so loved here: vibrant fruit, bright freshness, and a naturally supple structure, all shaped by one of the estate’s sunniest vineyard sites.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color with garnet reflections. The nose is generous and inviting, with ripe cherries, plums, and dark berries layered with hints of herbs, spice, and a delicate touch of vanilla and oak. On the palate, it is juicy, full-bodied, and well balanced, with Barbera’s signature lively acidity keeping the wine fresh and energetic. The tannins are ripe and smooth, leading to a long, elegant finish with both depth and finesse. While enjoyable now for its youthful fruit, it also has the structure to develop nicely over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from some of Poderi Marcarini’s most sun-exposed vineyards in La Morra, planted on calcareous and clay-rich soils with a notable magnesium content, which helps give the wine its balance of richness and mineral precision. The wine is made from 100% Barbera and fermented traditionally with temperature-controlled maceration in stainless steel and cement tanks to preserve the grape’s vivid fruit and natural acidity. It is then aged for around 8–9 months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by further resting in tank and a short period in bottle before release.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent food wine, especially with rich pasta dishes, tomato-based sauces, roasted poultry, grilled meats, mushrooms, and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C to bring out its fruit and freshness, and decant briefly if opened young to let the aromas open fully.
