Tasting Notes
Expect a ruby-red wine with lively brightness in the glass, showing the freshness and energy typical of Sangiovese from southern Tuscany. The bouquet is likely to offer red cherry, wild berries, dried herbs, and a subtle earthy edge, while the palate should be refined yet structured, with brisk acidity, fine tannins, and a savory, persistent finish. As a Riserva, it has the backbone to develop further in bottle, gaining more depth, spice, and tertiary complexity over the next few years. The extended cellar aging gives it a more composed, layered profile than a youthful Morellino, making it appealing now and well suited to short- to medium-term aging.

Production
The wine comes from Tuscany’s Morellino di Scansano area, where Sangiovese benefits from a warm coastal climate balanced by breezes and the region’s varied soils, helping preserve freshness while developing ripeness. The Vigna del Bersagliere cuvée was matured in the cellar for five years, a deliberate aging period chosen to honor the time Giuseppe Valiani spent away before returning to his family after the First World War. This long élevage is central to the wine’s identity, giving it greater depth and integration.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for Tuscan cuisine and other savory dishes such as grilled lamb, roast pork, bistecca alla Fiorentina, braised meats, and mushroom-based pasta. It also pairs well with aged pecorino and hearty vegetable dishes. Serve at 16–18°C; decanting for about 30–60 minutes is recommended to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
