Tasting Notes
In the glass, Plantation O.F.T.D. shows a deep, almost opaque mahogany color with glints of copper at the rim, hinting at its concentration and age. The nose is complex and inviting: layers of dark molasses, roasted coffee, and cacao nibs are intertwined with ripe banana, grilled pineapple, and dried fruit, supported by warm baking spices, vanilla, and a subtle smoky undertone. On the palate, this is dense, powerful, and remarkably smooth for its strength. Expect an immediate burst of caramelized brown sugar, toffee, and dark chocolate, followed by stewed tropical fruits, black cherry, and hints of licorice and clove. The high proof amplifies flavors rather than burning, giving a long, warming finish with echoes of espresso, spice, and charred oak. Production
Although labeled under Barbados, Plantation O.F.T.D. is a meticulously composed blend of traditional-style rums from across the Caribbean, typically including Barbados, Guyana, and Jamaica. These rums are made primarily from molasses and distilled in a combination of pot stills and column stills, capturing both robust character and refined texture. After tropical aging in their countries of origin, the selected barrels are shipped to Maison Ferrand in France, where they undergo Plantation’s signature secondary maturation in ex-cognac casks. This double-aging in a cooler continental climate polishes the spirit, harmonizing the intense, fruity, and spicy elements into a deeply layered dark rum.

Food & Serving
Plantation O.F.T.D. is a natural star in bold, full-flavored cocktails: think classic Zombie, Mai Tai, Jet Pilot, or a turbocharged Daiquiri. It also works beautifully in rum Old Fashioneds, Espresso Martinis (swapping vodka for rum), or alongside rich coffee-based drinks.
