Pira Barolo Marenca is a powerful and classic expression of Barolo DOCG, crafted from Nebbiolo by the historic Pira Luigi estate in Piedmont. Born from a family deeply rooted in the hills of Serralunga d'Alba since the late 19th century, it reflects both tradition and a commitment to elevating one of Italy’s most noble wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet-red colour with the signature clarity and depth expected from fine Nebbiolo. The bouquet is fresh yet complex, opening with layered notes of berries, vanilla, chocolate, and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is intense, structured, and richly textured, with excellent extraction and lively tannins that remain pleasant and well-integrated thanks to oak maturation. The finish is long, powerful, and persistent, with the kind of balance and depth that points to very good ageing potential.

Production
Marenca comes from the Barolo hills of Serralunga d'Alba, one of the most prized areas in Piedmont for producing structured, long-lived Nebbiolo. The combination of its terroir and careful viticulture gives the wine its depth, freshness, and firm backbone. Harvesting is carried out with a focus on selecting healthy, ripe fruit, followed by traditional vinification and ageing in oak to soften the tannins and build complexity.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for rich, flavourful dishes such as braised beef, truffle risotto, game, roasted lamb, or aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours to allow the aromas and tannins to open fully.

Pira Luigi is a family-run producer with deep historical ties to Serralunga d'Alba, having worked the hills there since the late 1800s. The estate has built a strong reputation in Barolo for expressing the character of the region with authenticity, precision, and respect for tradition. Its wines are recognised for their elegance, structure, and ageing capacity.
