Pico Maccario Barbaresco DOCG 2020 is a beautifully poised expression of one of Piemonte’s most celebrated appellations, combining precision, perfume, and finesse. Made only from carefully hand-harvested and sorted grapes, it shows the elegance and complexity that have made Barbaresco a benchmark for refined Nebbiolo wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it offers the graceful color and clarity you’d expect from a classic Barbaresco. The nose opens with a fresh, generous bouquet of red cherries and raspberries, lifted by seductive floral and perfumed notes that give the wine its expressive character. On the palate, the wine is layered and refined, with subtle warm spice adding depth to the bright red fruit profile. Its tannins are elegant and finely knit, giving the wine a feminine, polished structure and strong aging potential. With time in bottle, it should develop greater nuance and complexity while preserving its freshness and balance.

Production
The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected to ensure only the best fruit enters the cellar. Vinification follows a traditional approach with at least 15 days of maceration to extract a refined balance of aroma, structure, and color, after which the wine is aged for 9–10 months in Slovenian oak casks and rests for a further year in bottle before release.

Food & Serving
This Barbaresco pairs beautifully with braised meats, roast veal, game birds, truffle risotto, porcini pasta, and mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for about 30–60 minutes to allow the wine’s aromas and texture to fully open.
