Description
Pichon Comtesse de Lalande 2014 is a refined Pauillac from one of Bordeaux’s most admired estates, combining power, elegance, and remarkable precision. As a 2ème Grand Cru Classé, it carries the historic prestige of the left bank while showcasing the silky style that has long set this château apart.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby hue with youthful intensity and a poised, classic Bordeaux profile. The nose is layered with blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, violets, and subtle spice, while the palate brings cassis, dark plum, fine tobacco, and polished oak notes framed by a fresh, structured backbone.
The tannins are firm yet supple, giving the wine a graceful texture that balances its concentration. This is a vintage that can be enjoyed for its elegance now, but it also has excellent aging potential, developing greater complexity, earthiness, and nuance over time.
Production
Produced in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, the wine benefits from gravelly soils that provide excellent drainage and encourage deep root development, helping the vines deliver concentration and balance. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot reflects the estate’s traditional approach, with careful harvesting and precise vinification aimed at preserving aromatics, structure, and purity of fruit.
Food & Serving
This wine is an excellent match for classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, venison, or truffle-inflected preparations, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to खुल fully and soften its tannins.
