Description
Peyre Rose Belle Leone 2015 is a sought-after red from one of Languedoc’s most discreet and respected producers, known for crafting wines of remarkable depth, texture, and age-worthiness. Produced in very limited quantities, it reflects the thoughtful, low-intervention approach that has made Peyre Rose a cult name among collectors.
Tasting Notes
Belle Leone 2015 typically shows a deep, saturated color with impressive concentration in the glass. On the nose, expect layered aromas of dark berries, garrigue herbs, leather, spice, and earthy mineral tones, unfolding gradually with air.
On the palate it is usually full-bodied and structured, with ripe black fruit, savory complexity, and a firm, polished backbone. The wine is built for the cellar, and its balance of power and freshness suggests excellent aging potential over many years.
Production
Peyre Rose is based in the Languedoc, where old vines and a warm Mediterranean climate are tempered by elevation, breezes, and rocky soils that help preserve freshness and aromatic complexity. The estate is known for meticulous vineyard work and very restrained yields, allowing the fruit to reach full phenolic ripeness.
Vinification is traditionally handled with minimal intervention, with careful fermentation and extended maturation designed to preserve purity, structure, and character rather than overt oak influence.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, game, duck confit, grilled beef, or rich Mediterranean dishes with herbs and olives. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1 hour to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
Producer
Peyre Rose is one of Languedoc’s most admired estate producers, led by Marlène Soria, who built a reputation for uncompromising quality and an intensely individual style. The domaine has achieved cult status for its rare, deeply expressive wines and its long-standing influence on the region’s reputation for serious, age-worthy reds.
