Tasting Notes
Deep, almost opaque ruby-purple in appearance, the wine opens with an expressive bouquet of black plum, blackberry, violet and dark chocolate, complemented by subtle notes of graphite, spice and earth. On the palate, it is powerful yet remarkably refined, with concentrated dark fruit, velvety tannins and a mineral freshness that brings balance and length. The finish is exceptionally persistent, revealing layers of fruit, floral tones and fine savoury complexity. Although already impressive with extended aeration, Pétrus 2020 has the structure and concentration to mature gracefully for several decades under excellent cellaring conditions.

Production
Pétrus is planted exclusively to Merlot on distinctive clay-rich soils, including the famous blue clay that helps retain water and supports the vines during warm, dry periods. Grapes are harvested by hand in successive passes to ensure optimal ripeness, then carefully sorted before fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. The wine is matured in French oak, with the exact élevage designed to support the fruit, texture and mineral character rather than overshadow them.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C after allowing the bottle to come gradually to temperature. Young bottles benefit from a careful decant of two to four hours, while mature examples should be decanted more gently and only shortly before serving. Its depth and polished structure pair beautifully with roast lamb, prime beef, venison, truffle dishes, mushroom preparations and refined poultry served with rich sauces.

Pétrus is an iconic estate in Pomerol and one of the most highly regarded names in fine wine. The property came under the ownership of the Moueix family in 1964, whose stewardship helped establish its international reputation for exceptional Merlot-based wines. With a small vineyard, meticulous selection and naturally limited production, Pétrus remains one of Bordeaux’s most coveted and collectible wines.
