Tasting Notes
Petit Mouton 2023 is expected to show a polished, youthful Pauillac profile with a deep ruby color and attractive clarity. The nose typically leans toward blackcurrant, dark cherry, cedar, graphite, and subtle floral and spicy nuances, while the palate should be medium to full-bodied, structured, and elegant, with fine tannins and a fresh, precise finish. As a young second wine from a top estate, it is already appealing in its youth but should also benefit from several years of cellaring, allowing the fruit to soften and the classic Pauillac minerality and complexity to emerge more fully.

Sourced from selected parcels within the Mouton Rothschild estate in Pauillac, the wine reflects the gravelly terroir that favors Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant Bordeaux blends. The vineyard is known for its well-drained soils and proximity to the Gironde, which help moderate ripening and support freshness and structure. Harvesting is typically carried out parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness, followed by careful vinification to preserve purity, balance, and the supple style expected of the estate’s second wine.

Food & Serving
Petit Mouton pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled beef, duck breast, mushroom dishes, and hard cheeses such as aged Comté or Gruyère. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to allow the wine to open and show its full aromatic range.
