Description
Château Pedesclaux 2018 is a stylish Pauillac from a Fifth Growth estate, offering the structure and elegance you’d expect from Bordeaux’s Left Bank with a modern, refined touch. Sourced from a historic property in one of the world’s most celebrated appellations, it combines classic Cabernet-driven character with impressive polish and balance.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby color with vivid purple highlights in youth. The nose opens with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, and a subtle floral note, often lifted by hints of spice and toasted oak.
On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with firm but well-integrated tannins and fresh acidity supporting layers of dark fruit, tobacco, pencil shavings, and mineral tones. The 2018 vintage has the depth and concentration to age beautifully, and it should continue developing complexity over the next 10–20 years, gaining more tertiary notes of leather, truffle, and dried herbs.
Production
Pedesclaux comes from Pauillac, where gravelly soils and excellent drainage help Cabernet Sauvignon ripen with precision and intensity. The estate’s vineyards benefit from the temperate influence of the Gironde estuary, which helps preserve freshness and balance in the fruit. Vinification is carried out with a focus on purity and structure, typically including careful parcel selection, controlled fermentation, and aging in French oak to shape the final blend.
Food & Serving
This wine is a natural partner for grilled lamb, roast beef, duck breast, or dishes with mushrooms and truffle. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromas and tannins to open fully.
Producer
Château Pedesclaux is a historic Fifth Growth estate from the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, located in the heart of Pauillac. Over the years, it has earned increasing recognition for its refined style and quality-driven approach, strengthening its reputation among the region’s most respected properties. Its heritage and position in Pauillac make it an important name for classic Left Bank Bordeaux lovers.
