Description
Paul Gayot Meursault Le Porusot 2022 is a refined Burgundy white from one of Meursault’s distinguished Premier Cru climats. Combining generous richness with bright freshness and precise mineral character, it offers the classic balance of depth and elegance associated with high-quality Meursault. The 2022 vintage brings both concentration and ripe fruit, making this a compelling choice for Burgundy enthusiasts.
Tasting Notes
The wine presents a bright, pale golden colour. Its expressive nose opens with aromas of fresh butter, citrus fruit and delicate vanilla, complemented by an underlying mineral nuance. On the palate, it is round, full-bodied and powerful, yet remains focused and fresh. A beautifully defined mineral character adds energy and distinction, leading into a long, precise finish.
With its combination of structure, freshness and generous fruit, the wine can be enjoyed now with a little air, but should develop additional complexity over the next several years. It has the balance to age well for approximately 5–8 years, depending on storage conditions.
Production
The wine is made from Chardonnay grown in Meursault’s Le Porusot climat, known for producing expressive whites with both richness and mineral definition. The whole grapes are pneumatically pressed, followed by 24 hours of cold settling to clarify the must. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks, while malolactic fermentation is carried out in oak barrels. The wine then matures in barrels for 12 months, allowing the fruit, oak and mineral elements to integrate.
Food & Serving
Its richness and freshness make this Meursault an excellent partner for roasted or poached fish, lobster, scallops, creamy seafood dishes and poultry in a light sauce. It also pairs beautifully with risotto, delicate mushroom dishes and mature soft cheeses. Serve lightly chilled at around 11–13°C. Decanting is not essential, but 20–30 minutes in a carafe can help reveal the wine’s aromatic depth, particularly when enjoyed young.
