Description

Palmer Champagne Brut Réserve is a beautifully composed non-vintage Champagne that showcases the finesse and balance for which the region is renowned. Crafted from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier sourced across some 40 different crus, it offers a depth and complexity that stand out in its category. A generous use of reserve wines—aged for up to five years—adds a rare roundness and maturity, making this cuvée particularly refined and complete.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Palmer Brut Réserve typically shows a bright, pale golden colour with a fine, persistent bead of bubbles that speaks to its careful, extended aging on lees. On the nose, expect an elegant bouquet of citrus and orchard fruits—think lemon zest, pear and crisp apple—layered with notes of brioche, toasted nuts and subtle floral hints, all underpinned by a touch of chalky minerality. The palate is precise yet generous, combining fresh acidity with a creamy, well-textured mouthfeel. Flavours of white peach, green apple and lemon curd mingle with pastry, almond and a gentle spice note, leading to a long, clean and harmonious finish. Thanks to the significant proportion of reserve wines in the blend, this Champagne shows a beautiful sense of maturity and complexity right now, but it also has the structure to evolve gracefully for a few more years in bottle, gaining additional layers of nuttiness and honeyed character.

Production
Palmer Brut Réserve is sourced from vineyards across the Champagne region, drawing on around 40 different crus to build complexity and balance. The chalk- and limestone-rich soils, particularly from the Montagne de Reims and surrounding areas, lend the wine its hallmark tension and mineral backbone, while the varied exposures and microclimates contribute a broad palette of fruit character. Grapes are harvested by hand to ensure careful selection and gentle handling. After pressing, the base wines are vinified cru by cru and variety by variety, allowing the cellar team to assemble a precise blend each year. A substantial proportion of reserve wines—some aged up to five years—is incorporated to enhance richness and continuity of style. The wine then undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle and is aged on its lees for an extended period before disgorgement, which adds texture, finesse and those characteristic brioche and pastry notes.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile Champagne at the table, ideal both as an elegant apéritif and alongside food. It pairs beautifully with fresh seafood—oysters, scallops, prawns and sushi—as well as light fish dishes, poultry, creamy cheeses and refined appetizers such as smoked salmon blinis or gougères. Serve well chilled, ideally at 8–10°C (46–50°F), to highlight its freshness and fine mousse. While decanting is not necessary, pouring the wine into proper tulip-shaped Champagne glasses and giving it a moment in the glass to open up will allow its full aromatic complexity to emerge.

Producer
Palmer (often known as Palmer & Co) is a respected Champagne house based in Reims, founded in the mid-20th century by a group of visionary growers with prime holdings in some of Champagne’s most prestigious crus. From the outset, the focus has been on meticulous vineyard work and extended aging, producing wines that are both elegant and generously textured. Palmer has become particularly known for its skillful use of reserve wines and long lees aging, which give its cuvées a signature creaminess and depth. Today, Palmer holds a strong reputation in the region for crafting Champagnes that consistently over-deliver on complexity and refinement, while remaining true to the classic character of the Champagne appellation.
