Description
Château Palmer 2010 is a standout Margaux from one of the Médoc’s most admired estates, combining refinement, depth, and classic Bordeaux structure. As a 3ème Grand Cru Classé, it reflects both the prestige of the château and the exceptional quality of the 2010 vintage, a year widely regarded as one of the great modern Bordeaux harvests.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet color with impressive concentration. The nose is typically layered and complex, with aromas of dark berries, cassis, violets, cedar, tobacco, and subtle spice, evolving beautifully with air.
On the palate, Palmer 2010 is full-bodied yet elegantly shaped, with ripe black fruit, silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, persistent finish. It has the balance and concentration to age gracefully for many years, and will continue to develop additional nuances of truffle, leather, and earthy complexity over time.
Production
Produced in Margaux on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Château Palmer benefits from gravelly soils that provide excellent drainage and help preserve finesse and aromatic precision. The estate is known for meticulous vineyard work and careful harvesting, selecting grapes at optimal ripeness to capture both concentration and freshness. Vinification is carried out with a focus on expressing the character of the vintage and the château’s signature elegance, followed by aging in oak barrels to add structure and complexity.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck, game birds, and mushroom-based dishes. It also works well with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if enjoying it now, especially to allow its aromas and texture to fully open.
Producer
Château Palmer is one of the most celebrated estates in Margaux, with a reputation for producing wines of exceptional perfume, balance, and aging potential. Classified as a 3ème Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it holds a special place in Bordeaux history and is widely respected for its consistency and distinctive style. Over time, Palmer has built a strong reputation among collectors and critics alike for wines that combine power with remarkable finesse.
