Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Chardonnay is bright and inviting, showing aromas of Meyer lemon, crushed almonds, and grilled pineapple. The palate is rich and silky, with layered notes of lemon cream, orange blossom honey, ripe pear, and toasted nuts, all lifted by subtle baking spice. A characteristic Pahlmeyer texture gives the wine real presence, while lively acidity keeps everything in focus and carries the wine to a long, polished finish. Already expressive now, it has the structure to develop added complexity over the next 5-8 years.

Production
The 2022 vintage benefited from low yields and nearly ideal growing conditions, with the grapes harvested before late-summer heat could affect freshness and balance. Fruit was drawn from three distinct sources: the cool slopes of Carneros, the ripe fruit of St. Helena, and concentrated high-altitude vineyard sites, creating a Chardonnay with both precision and power. Fermentation took place in French oak barrels, followed by 12 months of aging, with 36% new François Frères oak and the remainder in one- and two-year-old Pahlmeyer barrels.

Food & Serving
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roast chicken, butter-poached lobster, seared scallops, creamy pasta, or rich fish dishes like halibut with beurre blanc. Serve chilled at around 10-12°C for the best balance of aromatics and texture. Decanting is not necessary, but letting the wine breathe briefly in the glass can help reveal its layered complexity.
