Orpheus & The Raven No. 7 Pinotage 2023 is a distinctive expression of South Africa’s signature grape variety, combining generous fruit with mineral freshness and refined structure. Tasting Notes
Deeply coloured and youthful in appearance, the wine opens with an expressive, perfumed nose shaped by its slate-influenced origins. Mineral notes and aromatic lift complement ripe, generous fruit, giving the wine an elegant sense of complexity. On the palate, the entry is round and polished, with an abundance of fruit supported by well-defined tannins. Production
The grapes come from slate-rich soils, which contribute mineral character, perfume and natural elegance to the wine’s structure. The fruit is matured for an extended period, including ageing in 50% new oak barrels, allowing the oak to integrate smoothly with the ripe fruit and firm tannins. Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C after allowing the wine to come gently up to temperature. Its ripe fruit and structured tannins make it a natural match for grilled or barbecued meats, slow-cooked beef, lamb, game and richly spiced dishes. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended when drinking the wine young, while older bottles can benefit from careful decanting to separate any sediment.
