Production
Le Serre Nuove 2022 comes from Ornellaia’s estate vineyards in Bolgheri, along the Tuscan coast, where a mix of marine, alluvial and volcanic soils and constant sea breezes create an ideal environment for Bordeaux varieties. The coastal climate, with warm, sunny days and cooling nights, allows Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc to ripen fully while retaining freshness. Grapes are harvested parcel by parcel at optimal ripeness, typically by hand, to preserve berry integrity. In line with Ornellaia’s philosophy, the must undergoes relatively long macerations to achieve a gentle, refined extraction of color, aroma and tannin. After fermentation, the individual lots are aged for about 15 months in French oak barriques, one-third of which are new, adding structure and complexity without overwhelming the fruit. The final blend is usually assembled around 12 months after fermentation, ensuring each component has found its voice before being harmonized into the finished wine.

This Bolgheri Rosso is a versatile, food-friendly wine that shines alongside rich, savory dishes. It pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted red meats such as bistecca alla fiorentina, lamb chops, braised short ribs or slow-cooked beef ragù.
