As the most nuanced and mature expression in the XO Reserve range, it reflects the long tradition of Old St. Croix, a name rooted in the legacy of Danish West Indies rum making.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a warm golden color that hints at its cask influence and mature character. The nose opens with roasted coconut, burnt figs, and a touch of flambéed banana, creating an inviting, dessert-like first impression. On the palate, it moves into notes of toffee, cigar box, and glazed mandarin, with a rounded sweetness balanced by oak-driven complexity. The finish is long and composed, with leather, cigar box, and cocoa lingering beautifully. This is a rum built for slow enjoyment and will continue to appeal to lovers of mature, full-bodied blends.

Production
This XO Reserve expression is assembled from extra-aged, double-distilled rums sourced from respected distilleries in the Caribbean and Central America. The blend is curated from handpicked casks, many of which have previously held wines such as port or sherry, contributing layers of sweetness, spice, and depth. The result is a carefully balanced composition where older and younger components are married into a harmonious, cask-forward style.

Food & Serving
Enjoy it neat or with a large ice cube to open up the aromatic layers. It pairs particularly well with dark chocolate, cigar-style desserts, roasted nuts, or a fine after-dinner cigar, and can also be a contemplative sipping rum on its own. Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, and decanting is not necessary, though letting it sit in the glass for a few minutes will enhance the aromatics.

Old St. Croix, formerly A.H. Riise, draws on the story of Albert Heinrich Riise, the Danish apothecary who began producing spirit-based elixirs in the 1830s on St. Thomas. Inspired by the fertile sugarcane lands of St. Croix, the brand grew into an internationally recognized rum name, famously earning gold at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. Today, Old St. Croix continues to celebrate that heritage with modern blends that honor its West Indies origins and its long-standing reputation for quality.
