Nervi-Conterno Vigna Molsino Gattinara 2019 is a deeply atmospheric Nebbiolo from one of northern Piedmont’s most distinctive sites. Dark, brooding, and full of quiet power, it shows the kind of tension and presence that have made Gattinara one of Italy’s most compelling long-ageing reds.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this vintage is notably dark and restrained, gradually unfolding with smoke, incense, liquorice, and leather. The aromatics are still tight and reserved, but the wine’s mineral resonance and inner energy become more apparent with air. On the palate, Molsino is all persistence and structure, with firm Nebbiolo tannins, pronounced savoury depth, and a long, serious finish. It is still very much in its early phase and has excellent ageing potential; this is a wine that will reward patience over many years.

Production
Vigna Molsino comes from one of the prized crus in Gattinara, in Piedmont, where Nebbiolo is shaped by elevated slopes and mineral-rich volcanic soils that lend finesse, savouriness, and depth. The 2019 vintage is vinified to preserve site character and the grape’s natural structure, resulting in a wine that is powerful yet still tightly wound, with plenty of time ahead for development.

Food & Serving
Pair this wine with richly flavoured dishes such as braised beef, game, truffle risotto, or mushroom-based pasta. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for a few hours if opening it young to help the wine begin to reveal its aromatics and texture.
