Müller-Catoir’s 2020 Pfalz Herrenletten Riesling is a refined expression of one of the estate’s distinguished vineyard sites in the Mittelhaardt. Combining the Pfalz’s sunny climate with Riesling’s natural freshness, it offers a poised balance of ripe fruit, mineral character and lively acidity. The historic Müller-Catoir estate has been cultivating vines in the region since 1744.

Tasting Notes
Bright and pale gold in appearance, this Riesling opens with aromas of white peach, citrus zest and ripe orchard fruit, complemented by delicate floral tones and a subtle stony minerality. On the palate, it is focused and elegant, with flavours of lemon, green apple and peach supported by crisp acidity and a long, mineral finish. The 2020 vintage brings both ripeness and freshness, making the wine enjoyable now while giving it the structure to develop further in bottle. With careful cellaring, it can gain additional complexity and reveal deeper honeyed and mineral nuances.

Production
The Herrenletten vineyard lies in the Pfalz’s Mittelhaardt, where a warm, relatively dry climate promotes full fruit ripeness while the surrounding Haardt hills help preserve freshness. Riesling is well suited to these conditions, translating the site’s mineral character with clarity. Grapes are harvested with care and gently vinified to preserve their aromatic precision, freshness and sense of place.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at approximately 9–11°C. This Riesling is a versatile partner for seafood, grilled fish, sushi, poultry, asparagus and fresh goat’s cheese; its acidity also works particularly well with creamy sauces and mildly spicy dishes. It can be enjoyed immediately, although decanting is generally unnecessary. If opened young, a brief period of aeration in the glass can help its aromas unfold.
