On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, richly textured and intensely concentrated, with a core of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plum framed by massive but refined tannins. Château Mouton Rothschild lies on the gravelly terraces of Pauillac in Bordeaux, where deep gravel over limestone and clay provides ideal drainage and encourages Cabernet Sauvignon of exceptional ripeness and intensity. The 2022 grand vin is a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot, sourced from some of the estate’s finest parcels. Grapes are harvested by hand, with rigorous selection in the vineyard and at the winery to ensure only the best fruit makes it into the final blend. Vinification typically takes place in temperature-controlled vats, parcel by parcel, allowing precise extraction of color, tannin and aroma. The wine is then aged in a high proportion of new French oak barriques, where it develops its signature combination of power, polish and aromatic complexity before bottling at the château.
