On the palate, the wine is structured yet polished, with fine tannins, balanced acidity, and a core of dark fruit framed by savoury Bordeaux complexity. The finish is long and nuanced, and while 1999 is a vintage that can already be enjoyed, it still has the balance to continue developing gracefully for several more years.

Production
Produced in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s gravel-rich Left Bank, Mouton Rothschild benefits from soils that are ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant variety in the blend. The estate’s vines are harvested parcel by parcel and vinified with meticulous attention to detail, allowing each component to retain its character before final blending and élevage in oak barrels.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game, and dishes with truffle, mushroom, or rich jus. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if opened now, especially to allow the wine to fully express its aromatics and soften its structure.
