Max Ferd. Richter Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr GG 2020 is a superb dry Riesling from one of the Mosel’s most celebrated hillside vineyards. As a Großes Gewächs, it represents the pinnacle of German wine classification, combining precision, ripeness, and the signature slate-driven character that has made Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr legendary.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, elegant appearance that hints at its freshness and finesse. The nose is expressive and layered, with citrus, white peach, and apricot lifted by a subtle mineral streak and the fine, cool aromatics typical of top Mosel Riesling. On the palate, this is a dry, focused wine with excellent balance between ripe fruit and vibrant acidity. The finish is long and mineral, with enough structure to suggest good aging potential over the next several years, during which it should gain additional depth and complexity.

Production
The grapes come from the steep slopes of Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr, a site in the Mosel known for its slate soils and excellent sun exposure, which help produce wines of concentration and elegance. The fruit is hand-harvested to ensure only the best grapes are selected, and the wine is crafted in a dry style to emphasize purity, precision, and site expression.

Food & Serving
This Riesling is a natural match for fish, shellfish, and delicate white meats, especially dishes with light sauces or fresh herbs. It also works beautifully as an aperitif. Serve well chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a short rest in the glass can help open up its aromatics.
