Description
Maurice Gentilhomme Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2022 is a classic and approachable expression of Burgundy, bringing together fruit from Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuits, and sites in southern Burgundy. It captures the charm of the region in a style that is fresh, supple, and quietly refined, with the added depth of a 10-month élevage in oak.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the translucent ruby hue typical of Pinot Noir from Burgundy. The nose offers a lively mix of tart red berries such as redcurrant and cranberry, followed by riper notes of wild strawberry, raspberry, and a touch of blackberry.
On the palate, the wine is soft and elegant, with fresh acidity and a light, supple texture. Gentle oak influence adds hints of toasted wood and baking spices, giving the wine extra dimension without overpowering the fruit. It is best enjoyed in its youthful, vibrant phase, though it should hold nicely over the next few years.
Production
This Bourgogne Pinot Noir is built from a blend of grapes sourced across key Burgundy terroirs, including Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuits, and vineyards in the southern part of the region. The combination brings both finesse and fruitiness, reflecting the breadth of Bourgogne’s Pinot Noir character. After harvest, the wine was matured for 10 months in oak barrels, which adds subtle spice and structure to the final blend.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for mushroom-based dishes, roast chicken, poultry with herbs, or creamy pasta with earthy accents. Serve it slightly chilled, ideally around 14°C, to highlight its freshness and aromatic lift. Decanting is generally not necessary, though a short aeration can help open the wine if served soon after opening.
Producer
Maurice Gentilhomme is a Burgundy producer associated with accessible, classic expressions of regional varietals, especially Pinot Noir. By drawing on grapes from several well-regarded Burgundy areas, the producer offers a style that reflects the diversity and tradition of the region. The house is valued for wines that combine authenticity, drinkability, and a clear sense of place.
