Production
Produced in the north-facing hills of Valle del Duero, Matarromera’s vineyards benefit from a privileged Ribera del Duero terroir marked by clay-sand soils with slate and limestone. The estate spans more than 160 hectares and is mainly planted with Tempranillo, with small parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot used to add complexity. All grapes are harvested by hand, and the winery follows a fully organic and sustainable philosophy that has earned Carlos Moro the European Environment Award. The result is a carefully managed, terroir-driven wine made with precision and respect for the landscape. The combination of meticulous vineyard work, hand selection, and a sustainable approach gives the wine its balance, structure, and layered style.

This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled beef, game, and rich mushroom dishes. Serve at 16-18°C, and consider decanting if you want the wine to open up and show more nuance in the glass.

Bodegas Matarromera was founded in 1988 by Carlos Moro, whose family had long been involved in winemaking between Olivares and Valbuena de Duero, at the center of Ribera del Duero’s most celebrated zone. Today, the estate is recognized as one of the benchmark producers in the region, known for combining tradition, innovation, and sustainability. Its commitment to organic viticulture and environmental responsibility has also brought it notable international recognition.
