Description

Mastroberardino Fiano di Avellino is a refined expression of one of Campania’s most historic white wines, crafted by a family that has shaped viticulture in Irpinia for more than two centuries. With its DOCG status, classic Fiano character, and elegant balance of freshness and texture, it stands out as a benchmark bottle from southern Italy.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright straw-golden color that hints at both vibrancy and depth. The bouquet is delicate but layered, opening with fresh fruit, white flowers, citrus, aromatic herbs, and subtle notes of almond, hazelnut, and dried blossoms. On the palate, it is graceful and medium-bodied, with a creamy, well-rounded texture and a clear floral core. The wine finishes with a clean, persistent impression and has the structure to develop additional nuance over a few years in bottle, gaining more honeyed and nutty complexity with time.

Production
This Fiano di Avellino DOCG comes from vineyards in the Irpinia area of Campania, planted on loose soils at around 400 meters above sea level with southeastern exposure. The grapes are hand-harvested during the first ten days of October, then vinified with a traditional white-wine fermentation without skins for about 20 days in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 16–18°C. After fermentation, the wine rests for several months in bottle before release.

Food & Serving
Serve this wine well chilled, ideally at 10–12°C, to preserve its aromatic lift and finesse. It pairs beautifully with seafood, grilled fish, shellfish, risotto, light pasta dishes, fresh cheeses, and vegetable-based Mediterranean cuisine; decanting is not necessary.

Producer
Mastroberardino is one of Campania’s most respected wine families, with roots in Irpinia that stretch back more than 200 years. The estate is widely recognized for preserving and elevating the region’s native varieties, especially Fiano, Greco, and Aglianico, and has earned an important place in Italy’s wine history through its commitment to tradition, quality, and regional identity.
