Tasting Notes
Deep and dark in the glass, the 2022 Masseto opens with a strikingly mineral-driven nose, evoking crushed black stone, dissolved minerals, and subtle peppery spice. With aeration, it unfolds notes of black plum, red apple, lavender, and sage, creating an aromatic profile that feels both intense and finely detailed. On the palate, it is full-bodied, rich, and more structured than immediately apparent, with ripe tannins and a core of depth that carries the wine with length and precision. The mineral character remains ever-present beneath the fruit, and while approachable at first, the finish reveals additional grip and structure. This is a wine built for the cellar, with drinking potential from 2028 through 2058.

Masseto comes from a celebrated Tuscan site known for producing one of the world’s benchmark Merlots, where the terroir’s mineral-rich soils play a defining role in the wine’s character.
