Description
Marsuret’s San Boldo is a refined Prosecco Superiore di Valdobbiadene Brut, offering the freshness and aromatic elegance that have made the hills around Valdobbiadene famous. Produced by a longstanding family estate with a strong commitment to tradition and the character of its terroir, it is a lively, versatile sparkling wine for both aperitif occasions and the dinner table.
Tasting Notes
The wine is clear and pale straw yellow in the glass, animated by a fine, persistent perlage. Its elegant, complex nose reveals crisp apple aromas alongside delicate floral notes. On the palate, it is intense, dry and refreshing, with vibrant acidity and a lively mousse that carries the fruit through a clean, energetic finish.
As a non-vintage Prosecco, San Boldo is intended to be enjoyed for its youthful freshness and expressive fruit rather than extended cellaring. Drink it within a few years of release, while its floral aromas, crisp apple character and effervescence are at their most vibrant.
Production
The grapes are sourced from the Valdobbiadene area, where the hilly terrain and local climate provide the freshness and aromatic intensity associated with Prosecco Superiore. Marsuret follows a traditional white-winemaking approach, using gentle pressing and fermentation at controlled temperatures to preserve the personality of the grapes and the nuances of the site. The sparkling second fermentation takes place in pressurised tanks according to the Méthode Charmat, resulting in a pressure of approximately 4.8–5.2 atmospheres and a fresh, lively style.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 6–8°C. San Boldo is ideal as an aperitif and pairs naturally with seafood, shellfish, sushi, light fish dishes, fresh cheeses and delicate appetisers. Decanting is not recommended, as it would quickly diminish the wine’s fine bubbles; pour gently into properly chilled sparkling-wine glasses instead.
Producer
Marsuret is a historic family-owned Prosecco producer based in the Valdobbiadene area. The estate’s story began with Agostino, who acquired a vineyard in Val de Cune near Guia di Valdobbiadene between the two World Wars and began making sparkling wine using natural bottle fermentation. Since 1980, brothers Ermes and Walter have led the estate, refining its production methods while maintaining a deep respect for tradition, nature and the distinctive character of each grape variety and vineyard site.
