Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep dark-purple hue that signals concentration and youth. The nose opens with dried plum, balsamic nuances, and a subtle layer of oak, giving it both richness and complexity. On the palate, this is a dry, full-bodied wine with firm tannins and an elegant, almost ethereal texture that lifts the richness. Warm, savory, and enveloping, it is a wine that already feels layered and expressive, while still promising excellent development with time in bottle.

Production
This wine comes from a vineyard planted in 1970 in Rioja Alavesa, one of the most prized areas of Rioja for producing balanced, age-worthy reds. The combination of altitude, climate, and limestone-rich soils helps preserve freshness while allowing the grapes to ripen fully. Harvesting is typically carried out with careful selection, and vinification follows a traditional Rioja approach designed to preserve fruit purity, structure, and finesse before aging in oak.

Food & Serving
Marqués de Murrieta Gran Reserva 2018 pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled beef, braised short ribs, game, or rich mushroom dishes. It is best served at 16–18°C, and decanting for about one hour is recommended to help the aromas open and soften the tannins.
