Description
Château Margaux 2017 is one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated first growths, combining unmistakable finesse with the depth and structure expected from a top-class Margaux. Graceful yet authoritative, it reflects the historic prestige of this legendary estate and the refined character that has made it an icon since the 1855 Classification.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby colour with impressive brightness and clarity. The nose is lifted and complex, with aromas of blackcurrant, red cherry, violets, cedar, graphite and subtle spice, unfolding with remarkable precision. On the palate, it is elegant and layered, with fine tannins, fresh acidity and a long, polished finish. The 2017 vintage is approachable in the context of great Bordeaux, but it also has the structure and balance to develop beautifully over many years.
Production
Produced in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, the wine draws its character from gravelly soils that promote excellent drainage and help the vines produce fruit with concentration and aromatic lift. Grapes are harvested carefully, parcel by parcel, with strict selection to ensure only the best fruit enters the final blend. Vinification follows a meticulous, traditional approach aimed at preserving purity, precision and the estate’s signature elegance.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast lamb, duck breast, beef fillet, game birds, truffle-based dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting is recommended, especially if opened young, to allow the wine to fully express its ароматics and soften its structure.
Producer
Château Margaux is one of Bordeaux’s most famous estates and a Premier Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification, long regarded as a benchmark for elegance and longevity. With a history stretching back centuries, the estate has earned an outstanding reputation for producing wines of exceptional finesse, complexity and ageing potential, making it one of the most admired names in the wine world.
