Description
Château Margaux 2011 is a graceful, classically styled First Growth from one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated estates. Known for its perfume, finesse and precision, it reflects the elegance that has made Margaux a benchmark name in fine wine for centuries.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby colour with youthful brightness at the rim. The nose is refined and layered, with notes of blackcurrant, dark cherry, violet, cedar, cigar box and subtle graphite, all framed by fresh oak and floral lift.
On the palate, the wine is poised and beautifully structured, combining silky tannins with bright acidity and polished fruit. The finish is long, complex and mineral-tinged, with the kind of balance and definition that allows it to age for many more years, and in a good cellar it should continue to evolve impressively over the next two decades or more.
Production
Château Margaux is rooted in the gravelly soils of the Left Bank, where excellent drainage and the maritime influence of Bordeaux help produce wines of purity, structure and aromatic detail. The estate is known for meticulous vineyard work, with careful parcel selection and hand harvesting to ensure only the best fruit is retained. Vinification is carried out with great precision, followed by ageing in French oak barrels to preserve the estate’s signature elegance and complexity.
Food & Serving
This wine is a superb match for refined dishes such as fillet of beef, lamb with herbs, roast duck, or game birds with earthy sauces. It also pairs beautifully with mature cheeses and truffle-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for several hours if drinking young to allow the wine to fully open.
Producer
Château Margaux is one of Bordeaux’s legendary First Growth estates and among the most recognised names in fine wine worldwide. Located in the Margaux appellation on the Left Bank, it has played a defining role in the region’s history and reputation for elegance. The estate is admired for its consistency, precision and ability to produce wines of remarkable longevity and distinction.
