Description

Margaux 1er Grand Cru Classé 1993 is a classic expression of one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated châteaux, offering the refinement, balance, and elegance that define the Margaux appellation. As a first growth from a standout Left Bank estate, it represents both historical prestige and the graceful style that has made this name legendary among fine wine collectors.

Tasting Notes
With time in bottle, Margaux 1993 typically shows a mature garnet hue with fading ruby tones at the rim. The bouquet is expected to be nuanced and layered, with notes of cedar, dried blackcurrant, tobacco leaf, leather, forest floor, and subtle floral accents that are characteristic of mature Margaux. On the palate, the wine is likely to feel silky and composed, with softened tannins, lifted acidity, and a persistent, elegant finish. This is a vintage best enjoyed at peak maturity, though well-stored bottles may continue to hold interest for a few more years depending on provenance and storage conditions.

Production
Produced in the Margaux appellation on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, this wine comes from gravel-rich soils that encourage excellent drainage and help produce wines of finesse and aromatic complexity. The estate’s traditional Bordeaux production methods typically involve careful parcel selection, hand harvesting when conditions allow, and vinification designed to preserve balance, structure, and terroir expression.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, filet of beef, duck breast, game birds, and mushroom-based dishes, as well as truffle-enhanced recipes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting gently for 30–60 minutes if the bottle is showing well but still needs a touch of air to open fully.

Producer
Château Margaux is one of Bordeaux’s most iconic estates and a benchmark for elegance in fine wine. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, it has long held a special place in the region’s history and remains renowned for producing wines of exceptional precision, perfume, and longevity.
