Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Riesling is bright and pale with a youthful clarity that hints at its freshness. The nose is restrained yet expressive, with cool slate, citrus, green apple, and delicate white floral notes, all wrapped in a distinctly mineral profile. On the palate, it is sleek, dry, and finely chiselled, with vibrant acidity and a linear, elegant structure. The mineral core gives the wine tension and length, while the fruit stays crisp and precise. Built for immediate enjoyment, it also has the balance to develop beautifully over the next few years.

Production
Margarethenhof is located in the small town of Ayl, between the Mosel and Saar rivers, where the family vineyard holdings span both the southern Weinmosel and the steep slate slopes of the Saar. The slate soils here are especially important for Riesling, contributing the wine’s mineral drive and saline edge, while the differing terroirs provide nuance and complexity. Since the 2020 harvest, Nicolas Weber has been the winemaker, working as naturally as possible in both vineyard and cellar, with minimal intervention and a strong focus on preserving freshness and site expression.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for seafood, shellfish, sushi, light salads, goat’s cheese, or classic German dishes such as asparagus with hollandaise. Serve well chilled, ideally at 8–10°C. Decanting is not necessary; if desired, a short period in the glass is enough to let the wine open up.
