Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Reserve shows a deep, inviting golden hue that hints at its ripeness and concentration. The nose is layered with mature yellow fruit and a gentle touch of vanilla from barrel aging, giving it both warmth and finesse. On the palate, it is generous and complex, with a creamy texture, abundant ripe fruit, and a polished structure that makes it especially appealing for lovers of richer white wines. The oak is present but well integrated, adding depth rather than dominance. With its concentration and balance, it should also hold up well over the next few years.

Production
Margarethenhof is located in Ayl, where the estate’s vineyards are spread across two very different Mosel terroirs: the limestone soils of the southern Weinmosel and the steep slate slopes along the Saar. For this Grauburgunder Reserve, those conditions help produce a wine with both substance and freshness, while the estate’s careful, low-intervention philosophy preserves clarity and expression. Since the 2020 harvest, winemaking has been led by Nicolas Weber, who works close to nature in both vineyard and cellar, combining traditional craft with a modern experimental spirit.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roasted poultry, veal, creamy mushroom dishes, rich fish preparations, or mild hard cheeses. Serve it at around 10–12°C to allow its texture and aromatic depth to show at their best. Decanting is not essential, but a short period in the glass or a gentle decant can help open up its oak-spiced complexity.
