Description
Marengo Langhe Nebbiolo 2024 is a classic expression of Piedmont’s most celebrated grape, offering the elegance and structure that make Nebbiolo so distinctive. Sourced from the Langhe, it combines bright fruit, floral complexity, and firm tannins in a style that is both approachable now and true to its heritage.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a translucent ruby-red hue with garnet reflections, a hallmark of Nebbiolo. The nose is lifted and refined, with aromas of red cherry, rose petals, violet, subtle spice, and a faint earthy note that adds depth.
On the palate, expect lively acidity, fine-grained tannins, and flavours of sour cherry, raspberry, licorice, and dried herbs, followed by a savory, mineral finish. While enjoyable in its youth for its freshness and perfume, it also has the structure to develop gracefully over the next few years.
Production
Made from Nebbiolo grown in the Langhe area of Piedmont, where rolling hills, limestone-rich soils, and a continental climate help preserve acidity and aromatic precision. Harvesting is typically carried out by hand to ensure only healthy, ripe grapes are selected, and vinification is designed to respect the grape’s delicate aromatics and natural structure, often with careful maceration and aging in a mix of stainless steel and/or neutral oak depending on the house style.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with Piedmontese classics such as tajarin with ragù, mushroom risotto, roast veal, braised meats, and aged hard cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano or Castelmagno. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 20–30 minutes if you’d like to soften the tannins and open up the aromatics.
Producer
Marengo is a Piedmont producer working in one of Italy’s most revered wine regions, where Nebbiolo has shaped the identity of local wine for generations. With a focus on expressing regional character and varietal purity, the winery contributes to the strong reputation of Langhe wines through a style that balances tradition, precision, and drinkability.
