Marchesi di Gresy Barbera d'Asti 2022 is a beautifully made, fresh and dry Barbera from one of Piedmont’s most respected family estates. Sourced from the La Serra vineyard in Cassine and crafted with a light, traditional touch, it delivers the pure, fruit-driven charm that has made Barbera such a beloved companion to Italian food for generations.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby-red color with vivid purple reflections. The nose is classic and clean, bursting with blackcurrant, raspberry, gooseberry, red currant and ripe cherry. The palate is lively and precise, with juicy fruit at the center and Barbera’s signature bright acidity keeping everything balanced and fresh. There is a smooth, easy-drinking texture, subtle oak influence from short aging, and enough structure to enjoy now or cellar for around 6 to 7 years.

Production
The grapes come from La Serra in the Alessandria province, in the commune of Cassine, where the vineyards are farmed according to sustainable and organic principles. Winemaker Matteo Sasso uses a traditional vinification: the must remains on the skins for 10 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, then 5 months of maturation in lightly used oak barrels and additional bottle aging before release.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal match for the kind of food Barbera was born to accompany: pizza, pasta with tomato-based sauces, roasted chicken, grilled sausages and simple charcuterie. Serve slightly chilled at around 16–18°C, and decanting is not necessary, though a short aeration can help the wine open up if served young.

Marchesi di Gresy, officially Tenute Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Grésy, has been owned by the di Grésy family since 1797 and is among Piedmont’s most esteemed family estates. The winery now works exclusively with grapes from its own properties across Langhe and Monferrato, and is known for combining deep respect for tradition with modern, environmentally conscious winemaking.
