Marchesi Antinori Guado al Tasso 2022 is a distinguished Bolgheri Superiore that combines the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, the aromatic lift of Cabernet Franc and the plushness of Merlot. Rich yet finely balanced, it stands out for its polished texture, graphite-like minerality and seamless integration of new oak. Produced on one of Bolgheri’s historic estates, it reflects the Tuscan coast’s successful expression of Bordeaux varieties.

Tasting Notes
Deep and richly coloured in the glass, the wine opens with an inviting nose of graphite, pencil lead and dark berries, followed by subtle hints of vanilla, sweet spice and new oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, with a generous, beautifully textured core of ripe blackberry and black cherry fruit. Cabernet Franc brings freshness and mineral definition, while Merlot adds softness and a gentle sweetness to the finish. Its polished tannins and concentration suggest excellent ageing potential, with the balance to develop further complexity over the next 10–15 years.

Production
The wine is a blend of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot, sourced from the Guado al Tasso estate in Bolgheri, where a maritime climate, coastal breezes and gravel-rich soils help preserve freshness in the warm Tuscan environment. The grapes are carefully selected and harvested at optimal ripeness before being vinified separately by variety, allowing the final blend to be shaped for balance and precision. Maturation in new oak contributes refined notes of vanilla and spice, while the increased proportion of Cabernet Franc adds mineral character and freshness. Production of the 2022 vintage was approximately 140,000 bottles.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C after decanting for around 1–2 hours, particularly while the wine is young, to open up its aromatic complexity and soften its tannins. Its rich structure makes it an excellent match for grilled or roasted beef, braised short ribs, venison and lamb. It also pairs beautifully with truffle dishes, hearty wild-boar ragù and mature hard cheeses.
