Tasting Notes
The wine pours a dense ruby-plum color and immediately opens with a richly layered bouquet of ripe strawberries, black cherry liqueur, fresh porcini mushrooms, and forest floor. On the palate it is dark, full-bodied, and concentrated, yet supple and dramatic, with a generous, almost flamboyant texture that recalls a great Côte de Nuits red. This is a wine with serious structure and longevity, and it should continue to evolve beautifully over the next 12–15 years.

Production
Sourced from Marcassin Vineyard in Sonoma County, California, the wine is largely based on the Calera clone, with additional plantings that may include other mystery selections. The vineyard’s coastal-influenced terroir and meticulous farming are key to the wine’s character, while the estate’s famously careful vinification and élevage preserve finesse, complexity, and ageworthiness.

This Pinot Noir is a natural match for roasted duck, wild mushroom dishes, squab, venison, or truffled poultry. Serve it slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 30–60 minutes if drinking young to allow its aromatic depth to fully unfold.
