Description
Marcarini Barolo Brunate is a classic expression of Nebbiolo from one of Barolo’s most celebrated crus, Brunate. Deeply rooted in the traditions of the Langhe, it combines noble structure, elegance, and remarkable aromatic depth in a wine that speaks clearly of place and heritage.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a garnet-red color with ruby highlights, already hinting at its graceful evolution. The bouquet is complex and generous, opening with vanilla, sweet spices, tobacco, mountain herbs, and an undergrowth note that adds extra depth and authenticity.
On the palate, it is warm, velvety, and authoritative, with the refined firmness that defines great Barolo. The finish is long, intense, and persistent, with excellent aging potential that will reward cellaring for many years.
Production
This wine comes from the prestigious Brunate cru in the Langhe hills of Piedmont, a historic site long associated with top-tier Barolo. The grapes are harvested from 100% Nebbiolo vines and vinified according to strict Piedmontese tradition, with carefully controlled fermentations and at least four weeks of maceration on the skins to extract structure and aromatic complexity. It is then aged for a minimum of two years in medium-sized oak casks, which support the wine without overshadowing its character.
Food & Serving
Barolo Brunate is an ideal partner for rich, flavorful dishes such as braised beef, game, truffle risotto, and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow its aromas and structure to fully open.
Producer
Marcarini was founded in 1961 and remains a family-driven estate dedicated to preserving the great winemaking traditions of Piedmont. The winery has earned a respected place in the region for its faithful, traditional Barolo style and its consistent work with distinguished sites like Brunate, helping to uphold the reputation of Langhe as one of Italy’s greatest wine regions.
