Description

“Lune à Boire” is the easy‑drinking, biodynamic white from the famed Famille Kreydenweiss in Alsace – a luminous, organically grown blend designed for pure drinking pleasure. This cuvée brings together Auxerrois, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sylvaner and Pinot Blanc from carefully selected sites to create a wine that is both charmingly fruit‑driven and quietly complex. Rooted in Kreydenweiss’ long-standing commitment to low‑intervention winemaking, it captures the spirit of modern Alsace: vibrant, gastronomic, and deeply expressive of place.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Lune à Boire Blanc shows a bright, pale straw to light golden colour with a gentle, almost shimmering hue. The nose opens with ripe yellow apple, nashi pear and hints of white peach, followed by subtle lychee, white blossom and a touch of white pepper and green tea – a graceful nod to the Gewürztraminer component without ever becoming perfumed or heavy. On the palate, the wine is juicy and inviting, with a core of ripe stone and orchard fruits wrapped in a fresh, mouthwatering acidity. The texture is rounded and slightly creamy from extended lees contact, adding an extra layer of depth beneath the primary fruit. Notes of pear, apple skin, gentle citrus, a whisper of spice and a faint herbal edge carry through to a clean, persistent finish. Crafted to be enjoyed in its youthful, vibrant phase, it will drink beautifully over the next 2–4 years, gaining a touch more nuance and softness with short-term cellaring rather than long-term aging.

Production
Lune à Boire Blanc is sourced from a mosaic of biodynamically farmed vineyards across Alsace, where limestone, clay and sandstone soils combine to give both freshness and aromatic breadth. The grapes are harvested by hand to ensure careful selection and brought to the cellar in small lots. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts, reflecting the estate’s minimal-intervention philosophy. After fermentation, the wine is matured in large old wooden casks, where it rests for about a year on its fine lees. This extended lees aging, without excessive manipulation, lends the cuvée its subtle creaminess, added complexity and harmonious integration of fruit, texture and acidity.

Food & Serving
This versatile Alsatian white is a natural match for a wide range of dishes: think tarte flambée, roast chicken with herbs, grilled white fish, sushi, lightly spiced Asian cuisine, or soft cheeses such as Munster, young Comté or goat’s cheese. Its gentle aromatics and balanced palate also pair beautifully with vegetable‑driven dishes like leek quiche, asparagus, or risotto with spring vegetables. Serve well‑chilled but not icy, ideally around 8–10 °C, to let the aromatics open up. Decanting is not essential, but a few minutes in the glass after pouring will help the wine reveal its full range of fruit and floral notes.

Producer
Famille Kreydenweiss is one of Alsace’s benchmark biodynamic estates, with roots in Andlau and a reputation built over decades for precise, terroir-driven wines. Under the guidance of Marc Kreydenweiss and the next generation, the domaine has become a reference for sustainable viticulture and expressive, low‑intervention winemaking in the region. Their work across diverse Alsatian terroirs highlights the character of each grape and site, from everyday cuvées like Lune à Boire to single-vineyard bottlings. Widely respected by sommeliers and wine enthusiasts alike, the family has helped shape the modern image of Alsace: authentic, progressive and deeply connected to its vineyards.
