Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep ruby-purple colour in the glass, hinting at its concentration and ripeness. On the nose, it offers cassis, blueberry and a touch of spicy earth, unfolding with a plush, opulent profile that still feels refined and lifted. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with generous dark fruit wrapped in velvety tannins and a polished, textured finish. Rich yet remarkably graceful, it has the structure and balance to drink well now, while still offering excellent ageing potential over the next 15 to 25 years.

Production
Malartic Lagravière is located in Pessac-Léognan, where gravelly Bordeaux terroir helps the vines achieve both freshness and depth. The estate is farmed with a strong focus on sustainable viticulture, and the vineyards are planted across 53 hectares, with red varieties dominating the holdings. The vines average around 25 years of age, and the red wines are vinified partly in new oak before aging for 12 months in 50-70% new barrels.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast or game dishes, as well as mushroom-based plates and hard cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 1-2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine’s aromatic complexity and silky texture to fully open up.

The château has a long history in Bordeaux, but it was the Bonnie family’s purchase in 1997 that marked a turning point in quality. Since then, they have invested heavily in both the vineyard and cellar, modernising production while also moving toward more environmentally sustainable farming. Their efforts have earned Malartic Lagravière a strong reputation as one of the standout estates in Pessac-Léognan, with both its reds and whites receiving high critical acclaim.
