Description

Maison Bertrand Ambroise Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru 2002 is a Burgundy classic from one of the region’s most celebrated Grand Cru sites. Crafted from Pinot Noir in the famed slopes of Aloxe-Corton, it combines depth, finesse, and the kind of structure that has made the 2002 vintage so admired for its balance and longevity.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby color with a gently mature rim, hinting at its age and development. The nose is layered and expressive, with black cherry, cassis, and blackberry lifted by notes of toast, liquorice, spice, and evolving hints of forest floor and leather. On the palate, it is powerful yet silky, with concentrated dark fruit, smoky nuance, and a firm backbone of ripe tannins. The finish is long, dry, and mineral-driven, giving the wine both elegance and impressive persistence. This is a Grand Cru with real aging potential, and even after two decades it still shows vitality, complexity, and depth.

Production
The wine comes from Corton Le Rognet in Aloxe-Corton, a historic Grand Cru hillside known for its limestone-rich soils and excellent exposure, which help Pinot Noir achieve ripeness, precision, and minerality. The 2002 vintage benefited from generally harmonious growing conditions in Burgundy, allowing for balanced fruit development and refined tannins, with vinification aimed at preserving terroir character and structure.

Food & Serving
This wine is an excellent match for game, beef tenderloin, roast lamb, and other richly flavoured dishes that can stand up to its depth and tannic frame. Serve at 14-16 °C, and decant if possible to allow the aromas and texture to open fully.

Producer
Domaine Bertrand Ambroise is a respected Burgundy producer with a strong reputation for expressing the character of its vineyards, particularly in the Côte de Beaune and Corton. Known for attentive winemaking and a focus on quality over volume, the domaine has earned recognition for producing wines with purity, structure, and impressive ageworthiness.
