Description

Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine by Domaine Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon is a refined Burgundy Chardonnay that captures the purity and freshness of southern Mâconnais. Crafted by one of the region’s most respected names, it offers a beautifully precise expression of limestone-driven fruit with the elegance and balance that have made the domaine a benchmark for white Burgundy.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a bright pale gold hue with green reflections, a sign of its youth and freshness. The nose is inviting and lifted, with notes of white flowers, citrus peel, ripe pear, and subtle mineral nuances that reflect the village’s limestone soils. On the palate, the wine is crisp and finely textured, combining clean orchard fruit, lemon zest, and a gentle creamy note with a saline, chalky finish. The 2023 vintage should offer excellent immediate appeal, while still having the structure to develop additional complexity over the next few years.

Production
The Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine vineyards sit in the limestone-rich hills of the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy, where the cooler elevations help preserve freshness and precision in the grapes. Domaine Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon is known for attentive vineyard work and careful harvesting, typically aiming to pick at optimal ripeness while maintaining natural balance. Vinification is carried out with a focus on purity and terroir expression, usually through restrained cellar work that allows the Chardonnay character and mineral identity of the site to shine.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for seafood, grilled fish, roast chicken, creamy poultry dishes, and goat cheese, especially fresh regional styles. Serve chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, to preserve its brightness and aromatic detail. Decanting is generally not necessary, though a short aeration can help if the wine is served very young.

Producer
Domaine Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon was established by Dominique Lafon to extend the values and philosophy of the famed Comte Lafon estate into the Mâconnais. The domaine has helped elevate the reputation of the region through its commitment to biodynamic principles, meticulous vineyard farming, and wines of exceptional precision. It is widely regarded as one of the leading producers in southern Burgundy, particularly for expressive, terroir-driven Chardonnay.

This is the second wine from Comte Lafon. Mâcon Milly-Lamartine. Mâcon always brings that sunshine into the glass. If you're looking for something to pair with a slightly lighter dish or pasta, this is your option. Cheers!

They say the sun in Mâcon is a little warmer and brighter – well, anyone who needs proof of that should taste this wine. Sunny yellow in the glass, a bright appearance and a long fresh finish. Although considered an entry into Burgundy, it is already a damn great wine. If you are looking for freshness and drive without overly broad shoulders, this is exactly the right place. Saluti!
