Description
Château Lynch-Bages 2009 is a classic Pauillac from one of Bordeaux’s most admired Fifth Growth estates, offering the depth, structure, and polish that have made the château a benchmark on the Left Bank. Made from a traditional Bordeaux blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon, it combines power with refinement and carries the pedigree of a Grand Cru Classé from the historic 1855 classification.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet hue with impressive concentration. The nose opens with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf, and subtle floral and spice notes, developing further complexity with time in the glass.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and layered, with ripe dark fruit wrapped around firm but polished tannins. Savory notes of graphite, cigar box, and earth add classic Pauillac character, while the 2009 vintage brings generous fruit and balance. It has excellent aging potential and should continue to evolve beautifully for many years.
Production
Produced in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, the wine draws its character from gravelly soils that provide excellent drainage and encourage Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen fully. The blend is vinified in the traditional Bordeaux style, with careful parcel selection and élevage designed to preserve structure, purity of fruit, and aromatic complexity.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, entrecôte, game, duck breast, and richly flavored mushroom dishes. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours, especially if opening at a younger stage, to allow the wine to fully open and soften.
Producer
Château Lynch-Bages is one of the most respected names in Pauillac, with a history dating back centuries and a reputation built on consistency, quality, and a distinctly powerful style. Classified as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, it has long been regarded as a standout estate in the region and is especially admired for producing wines that combine classic structure with impressive approachability and longevity.
