Luce Lucente 2024

Luce Lucente 2024 is a polished Tuscan red that brings together the character of Sangiovese with the supple richness of Merlot. Produced at the Luce estate in Montalcino, it reflects the historic collaboration between the Frescobaldi family and Robert Mondavi, combining Tuscan tradition with an international approach to winemaking.

Tasting Notes
The wine has an intense, brilliant red colour with lively violet reflections. Its expressive bouquet reveals inviting aromas of wild berries and ripe fruit preserves, complemented by subtle notes of tobacco and delicate spice. On the palate, Lucente is generously full-bodied yet smooth and approachable. Silky, well-integrated tannins lend the wine a rounded texture, while a balanced toasted note carries through to a persistent finish. It is enjoyable in its youth, with the structure to develop additional harmony over the next few years when properly stored.

Production
The Merlot and Sangiovese grapes are grown in the Montalcino area, where favourable soils and a well-balanced climate encourage even ripening. Harvest takes place in September, with each variety picked according to its individual maturity. Fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks to preserve the fruit’s freshness, followed by approximately 20 days of skin maceration to build colour and structure. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures for 12 months in barriques, including partially new oak, which helps soften the texture and adds subtle toasted complexity.

Food & Serving
A versatile and gastronomic red, Lucente pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted red meat, game, rich pasta dishes and mature cheeses. Serve slightly cool, at around 16–18°C, to highlight its balance and freshness. Decant for approximately one hour before serving, particularly when enjoying the wine with a substantial meal.
