Tasting Notes
Cristal 2012 shows a beautiful golden color with amber reflections, while the mousse is fine, delicate, and persistent. The nose is subtle yet intense, with notes of preserved citrus, apricot, and honeysuckle. On the palate, the wine feels both crisp and rounded, unfolding with hints of vanilla and mint before developing layers of liquorice and toasted hazelnut. It finishes with remarkable elegance and a seamless balance of lightness, depth, and complexity. Built on an outstanding vintage, it has excellent aging potential and will continue to evolve beautifully over time.

Production
Cristal 2012 comes from 8–10 of Louis Roederer’s top cru parcels, grown biodynamically and certified by Demeter. The 2012 season in Champagne was highly continental, with a cold winter followed by plenty of sunshine, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and fully while retaining freshness and structure. Around 15% of the wine was fermented in oak, and malolactic fermentation was not carried out. The wine then underwent secondary fermentation in bottle and spent six years aging on the lees, followed by an additional eight months resting at Roederer after disgorgement before release.

Food & Serving
Cristal 2012 is a superb match for refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, oysters, caviar, sushi, and delicate poultry or veal preparations. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to preserve its freshness and aromatic precision. Decanting is generally not necessary, but allowing the wine a little time in the glass will help reveal its full complexity.
