Description
Lionel Osmin & Cie’s Les Villas Villa Côte d'Argent 2024 showcases the fresh, maritime character of southwestern France. Produced by a specialist house devoted exclusively to the region’s distinctive wines, it offers an accessible introduction to the Atlantic-influenced style of the Sud Ouest, where freshness and vibrant fruit take centre stage.
Tasting Notes
Pale and bright in appearance, this white wine is expected to show a fresh, expressive nose shaped by the cool Atlantic climate, with notes of citrus, green apple, white flowers and perhaps a subtle hint of herbs. On the palate, it is crisp and refreshing, with lively acidity, clean fruit and a light, easy-drinking finish.
The 2024 vintage is best enjoyed for its youthful freshness rather than extended cellaring. Drink it over the next few years while its aromatic lift and vibrant character are at their most pronounced.
Production
The Villa Côte d'Argent comes from the Atlantic-influenced Sud Ouest, a part of France known for its cooler and more humid conditions than many other French wine regions. Lionel Osmin & Cie works with vineyards cultivated as organically as possible, with the long-term aim of eliminating residual products. Specific harvesting and vinification details for this cuvée have not been provided, but the wine’s style is designed to preserve freshness and regional expression.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its bright, refreshing profile makes it a natural partner for oysters, mussels, prawns, grilled fish, sushi, goat cheese and salads with citrus-based dressings. It is best enjoyed without decanting; simply open shortly before serving or allow it a few minutes in the glass to reveal more of its aroma.
Producer
Lionel Osmin & Cie is a distinctive négociant and producer dedicated exclusively to the wines and spirits of southwestern France, with a portfolio spanning Jurançon, Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, Cahors, Gaillac and Bergerac, as well as Armagnac. The company places strong emphasis on regional grape varieties and increasingly sustainable vineyard practices. Since launching an ambitious tree-planting programme in 2010, it has helped replant almost 43,000 trees—more than 40 hectares of forest—supporting the restoration of the Landes forest and the region’s wind- and storm-affected landscapes.
