Letrari Trento Brut 2022

Letrari Trento Brut 2022 is an elegant Italian sparkling wine from Trentino, crafted from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir using the traditional method. With at least 24 months of lees ageing, it combines fine, persistent bubbles with a lively, full-bodied style that reflects the cool Alpine influence and Mediterranean character of Vallagarina. The Letrari family has been connected with winemaking around Rovereto since 1647, giving this Trentodoc a strong sense of place and heritage.

Tasting Notes
Bright straw yellow with delicate golden highlights, the wine shows a fine and persistent perlage. Its aromatic profile brings together crisp apple and ripe pineapple with subtle notes of freshly baked bread and bread crust from its extended time on the lees. On the palate, it is lively yet rounded, with generous body, refreshing acidity and a smooth, balanced texture. The finish is persistent, echoing the wine’s fruity character while adding a gentle savoury complexity. It is delicious now and should develop further over the next few years, provided it is stored in a cool, dark place.

Production
The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from vineyards in Vallagarina near Rovereto, where the temperate climate is moderated by Lake Garda and the Adige River. Significant day-night temperature variations help preserve freshness and define the grapes’ varietal character. The grapes are harvested by hand, gently pressed and fermented in stainless-steel tanks to retain aromatic purity. After the cuvée is assembled, the wine undergoes a second fermentation in bottle according to the traditional method, followed by at least 24 months of lees ageing to build texture, stability and fine, persistent mousse.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 6–8°C in a tulip-shaped sparkling wine glass. Letrari Trento Brut is a versatile aperitif and pairs particularly well with oysters, shellfish, sushi, fried seafood and delicate fish dishes. Its freshness and body also complement soft cheeses, light antipasti and gently seasoned poultry. Decanting is not recommended; simply allow the bottle to rest briefly after opening and pour carefully to preserve the delicate bubbles.

Letrari is a family-owned winery based in Rovereto, with winemaking roots in the Vallagarina area dating back to 1647. The modern estate was established in 1976 and has become closely associated with the production of high-quality Trentodoc sparkling wines. Under the guidance of the Letrari family and oenologist Lucia Letrari, the winery combines regional tradition with meticulous vineyard and cellar work, highlighting the distinctive microclimate and mountain-influenced freshness of Trentino.
