Description
Les Crêtes Petite Arvine Fleur 2025 is an expressive still white wine from Italy’s Aosta Valley, crafted to showcase the distinctive character of the Petite Arvine grape. Grown in steep, high-altitude vineyards and shaped by the region’s tradition of heroic viticulture, it combines Alpine freshness with a refined, saline elegance.
Tasting Notes
Bright straw yellow in appearance, the wine opens with a floral bouquet of jasmine and peony, followed by fresh notes of apple, plum and citrus. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet lively, with a pronounced mineral character and a subtle salty, almost maritime nuance. Its textured mouthfeel is balanced by refreshing acidity and a harmonious finish.
The wine is approachable in its youth, when its floral and citrus notes are especially vibrant, but its structure and mineral freshness should allow it to develop additional complexity over the next few years when carefully stored.
Production
The Petite Arvine grapes are harvested by hand in late September from small parcels on the steep slopes of Aymavilles and Montjovet, between 550 and 750 metres above sea level. The vineyards benefit from an endo-Alpine climate with strong sunlight, limited rainfall and constant breezes, while loose, sandy morainic soils contribute to the wine’s distinctive salinity and aromatic clarity. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for approximately twelve days. The wine then rests on its lees for around two months, with regular bâtonnage to enhance texture and richness while preserving its freshness.
Food & Serving
Serve chilled at around 10–12°C. Its saline freshness and textured palate make it an excellent match for shellfish, oysters, grilled fish, seafood risotto and other delicate dishes. It also pairs well with light-coloured meats, poultry and fresh Alpine cheeses. Decanting is not necessary, although opening the bottle shortly before serving can allow its floral aromas to emerge more fully.
Producer
Les Crêtes is the historic winery of the Charrère family, which has devoted six generations to cultivating vines in the Aosta Valley. The family is renowned for its commitment to heroic, environmentally conscious viticulture on steep, south-facing Alpine slopes, where vineyard work is particularly demanding. Petite Arvine Fleur comes from the historic “de vin ros” vineyards of Montjovet and reflects Les Crêtes’ approach of combining long-standing Alpine traditions with precise, modern winemaking.
